Dragonboating with Cormorants

Dragonboating – Volunteer Appreciation sponsored by Niagara Rowing School. We are forever grateful for your support.

We spent an amazing day on the water with John, learned some new skills, prepared our paddle muscles for our portage trip, and found a new research project!!

We had to chime in on the Cormorant-Cull-Debate to try to figure out if these acid pooping birds are causing problems in this ecosystem, or are beneficial to the area. Automatically the sight of dying trees at the roosting colony appears bad. It’s stinky, seems over-populated, and looks destructive…but these native birds are supposed to be here, so what should a returning population of cormorants look like? Check out our slides and join the debate!

  1. I can’t say it enough! This is an amazing group of kids and rhe adults who mentor them.
