This project has been a riot.
And thanks to the support we received last month at our native plant giveaway, we will be able to continue our waste infrastructure work in Jordan Harbour.

Jordan Harbour has a long history of being taken care of by retired seniors fed up with the excessive litter that comes from some people in our fishing community.
For the past few years the kids have gotten involved in cleanups but still had 30-50 bags of trash piling up every six months. In October we installed bins and funded a dumpster in a pilot project to see if people would respect our land if it was easier for them to do it.
Since October of 2025 we have removed 3 dumpsters full of trash from Jordan Harbour via our trash bins. We even had a hungry opossum rescue one afternoon!

But most importantly, Jordan Harbour is staying a bit cleaner. Small bags are being transported back to the parking lot, and we have reduced the time our youth and seniors spend crawling along the shoreline picking up plastic.
There will always be visitors that need to learn to pack-it-out, but come check out these beautiful spaces (that now have waste infrastructure!) and help if you see something left behind.
A big thank you to Niagara Rowing School for donating the use of their boats to go and rescue the trash from under the bridge this weekend in Jordan Harbour. These projects would be impossible without the support of community partners!
If you are interested in helping to pay for a dumpster tip to keep this project running into the future – please reach out and we can send the Niagara Waste account that you can donate to!
Together we can.
