June Gardens – Blood, sweat, and tears.

Congratulations to our youth who keep stepping up to the bar. I have been proud of these kids for 6 years in a row but this one felt big. They took two awards in 2025 and it felt like we peaked – but they have proven that they are just getting started. Our ‘Big Spring Things’ were off the charts this year. From the Turtle Parade over Earth Week, their Jordan Dumpster Project, to our biggest Butterflyway year yet…there was no lack of grit. We have grown over 730 native plants this spring with plans to grow even more next year! Thank you to our students that care enough to act, and who act enough to inspire.

Jacob Beam Elementary School Butterflyway Garden

Over 3 visits with the kindergarten classes at Jacob Beam Elementary school, students seed collected, winter sowed, and then planted a pollinator patch in front of the school. We will be back in the fall to keep the cycle going and use the garden to give away native plants to the school community.

Johnson Park Butterflyway Garden

Thank you to the City of St. Catharines for their support in launching our first public park pollinator patch!! This park has a unique wetland feature that we will use to reduce the need for watering and support some less common wetland plants, while increasing native habitat and spreading native plant education.

Need support sourcing local native plants? Our native plant stand still has a few plants left, and we will be fully stocked back up for our annual giveaway the last weekend of May in 2027!

Thank you to all the organizations who have supported this journey and help us increase our impact year after year!
