so proud of these kids!! they have learned that our threatened turtle species have a 1% chance of surviving to adulthood. areas with roadways within 200 meters of wetlands are most at risk, and nesting females are being struck by cars at alarming rates. 

here are this years accomplishments…

the kids have made a training video to spread awareness,

5 hatchling road rescues,

18 hatchlings crushed,

6 nesting painted turtles – road rescues,

5 nesting snappers – road rescues,

1 crushed nesting snapper.
