quick garden guide

we got trained up today at the webinar!

the kids are working on a video project to help you plant a pollinator garden in 5 steps. it will be out in the next few weeks.

until then, i will fill you in on some good info from the webinar today incase you missed it so you can start planning.

we have started our cold stratified seeds indoors this week but we have lots of seedling options from local greenhouses so there is no rush if you don’t have a plan yet. (seeds can be put right into the ground in May)

i have added a website to the ‘more info’ section – check out pollinator.org for planting tips from your area. (we are Lake Erie lowland)

– plants like to be about 1 foot apart and planted in clusters of 3-5 seedlings.

– have a diversity of species with flowers that bloom in spring, summer, and fall.

– leave some bare ground for bees to nest, some mulch, some rotting wood, rocks, old hollow stems, snail shells, and a water source with sticks to exit the dish.

– don’t use pesticides, and don‘t cut back flowers or clean up leaves until May when everyone has woken up naturally.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INTEREST IN ADDING POLLINATOR GARDENS NIAGARA!!
